Disclaimer:
I figured that I rather call myself a "troll" before anyone else does after I ask my question. To save you the trouble of looking up my profile to see my brand-orientation, I use a 40D and also a Sony H9 for IR photography... I don't have any special preference of a brand... and which is the reason why I'm asking this question...

My question:
There's a Nikkor lens that I want to buy (70-200 2.8 VR) and I've been considering getting a body to go along with it. Usually when I go to a shop and tell people that I already own a 40D and I want to get a body that takes a Nikkor lens, they usually pull out some picture of a herd of pro photographers at some event and make remarks on how there are more "white" lenses than "black" ones. My main question is: does this really matter if you're a photojournalist, for example? As in, do you need to use similar equipment as other do? I always thought that one should go with what works for him/her? Have "black lens" shooters had any difficulties in taking their photos because their's aren't "white" like most people's?

Thanks...
