Perhaps you remember me? Over a month ago I wrote in this forum about how my a850 auto focus had been broken by using a 3rd party lens with the AF Micro Adjust feature: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1037&message=33173905
Well, it has taken a whole month and my camera has now made 2 round trips to Sony Authorized Service and it still can not autofocus properly using Sony or Minolta lenses.
The cause of the problem? This quote is in small type written under the instructions for using AF Micro Adjustment: "If you perform AF fine adjustment with a lens of other manufacturers, the adjustment values of Sony, Minolta, and Konica Minolta lenses may be affected. Do not use this function with any lens of other manufacturers."
My lenses? 35G, 85G, 200G, 80-200G also 24/f2.8, 50/f2.8, 135/f2.8, KM100-400, Beercan, etc... These lenses worked great before I used a 3rd party lens with the AF Micro Adj feature... They still work fine on my a700 and a100. Now, even after the camera has made 2 trips to Sony Authorized Service they DO NOT AF accurately on my broken a850.
The 3rd party lenses tried? Sigma 300mm/f4 Macro (77mm), Sigma 400mm/f5.6 Macro (77mm), Tokina ATX PRO 80-200/f2.8 and 180mm/f3.5 Tamron Di Macro... As Sony warns in that quoted bit, one of these lenses caused some damage to the regular functioning of the AF in my new a850... Even after two trips to Sony Authorized Service my premium Sony and Minolta lenses can not AF properly.
Can someone help me? Who can I contact DIRECTLY to get this resolved. I need to get my camera repaired but after a full month (and two repair trips) of trusting that Sony Service would fix the AF in my camera I still can not use it.
Please contact me if you know a direct way to get the attention of someone at Sony who can get my camera repaired or replaced. You don't have to post this information in the open fourm. My direct e-mail is in my profile. It is available to registered users of this form.
Thank you. Have a good week.
