IMHO their message is... "If you want video, buy a digicam, it does it better than a DSLR", because you do not have to interrupt video capture to snap a still image and you can autofocus during the video capture.
My guess is that there won't be video in new alphas within one year, unless Sony finds a satisfying implementation, just like they did with LV. Until then, their message seems to be that digicams do it better.
