Ok, my turn at a K-x report.
Images in reply.
I am a jpeg shooter and hate post processing.
I went for a early morning walk with the K-x and a few different lenses. I had no specific plan and just shot a few random pics.
I do not believe in sugar coating or making a camera seem better than it is so the first two pics are as taken (at iso 12800 and 4000), the rest are resized only (would have taken a long time to upload if not), otherwise as taken. (flckr resized the first two as well). I may have the sharpening set a little high in camera.
My K-x has no battery problem (yet) and in fact battery useage is great as I put in another thread I started.
The K-x is a LOT of camera for the money but in order to put what it has in they have cut a few corners....EG the trash button is also the flash button, that sort of thing. It is not a quck camera to use if you want to do different things on the fly. It is quite different to my K100d and IST*D and those two are much closer to each other than the K100d is to the K-x. Most of the differences will take some getting used to but will not be a problem for me. While not quick to CHANGE things, it is a very nice quick camera to use if only using one or two normal lenses for example.
My only real quibble so far is that the ok button is a bit small (and could be a fraction of an inch to the left).
This is a wonderful entry level camera that is also close to as good as it gets for now at high iso short of full frame or new pro grade Canon APS-H..... It is still an entry level camera though....there is a reason the warranty is 12 months for general use and only 3 months for professional/commercial use.
I thought that iso 12800 was only for bragging rights but now am not so sure....I think there will be times it will come in handy and I may even be able to have prints made to a reasonable size at that setting (not that i print much).
ISO 4000 and even 5000 are very nice, above that and like 3200 on the 6mp cameras it will be good in the right circumstances but not always.
My old pc is too slow for testing or using HD video but I will get a newer one soon...look forward to using the K-x for live music and the (very) occasional music video.
If this camera had a Nikon badge on it it would be the best selling dslr on earth. If the sensor was put into a K-7, it would be about the best apsc camera ever made....just my opinion.
