As some of you are aware, I spend most of my "forum time" in the Consumers Report fora in an attempt to raise the awareness of Pentax to new buyers of digital cameras, mostly dSLR.
MOst people enter that forum and ask which caemra to buy, and typically point to C or N. For the most part they know little about dSLRs but represent the P&S upgrade crowd, a target for Pentax.
There were two recent such posts where the K-x would have been the best bet due to a combination of features and price point with bundled lenses.
The first person, who wanted to shoot a swim meet, wanted to have video as well. Various people including me pointed out that you need high ISO and a tele zoom and I posted that the kx does very well with a link to ephotozone. The poster had her mind made up for either a C or N and ignored any talk of Pentax. She ended up with a Canon and kit that cost more than the equal pentax system.

The second person heard of Pentax and considered it but since the K-x was not rated by Consumers, and there others were in Costco, went another direction. http://forums.consumerreports.org/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=cr-camera04&tid=287
The bottom line: Get a good review from CR (Hard because they emphasize JPEG output with a lot of NR as opposed to detail). On this dimention, the K-x should come out on top.
