I have three the 16-50 and the 50-135 and the 300.
I have heard reports that these lenses don't focus any more quickly than screw drive ones do.
That may be true. But I would ask 'What do you mean?'
Specifically, are we talking AF.S, or AF.C?
Do your SDM lenses track better in AF.C than your non-SDM ones do?
I think mine do, but I have NO data to back that up, just an impression.
Quiet, for me, is good. I sometimes shoot wildlife, so less noise means fewer chances of spooking the little darlings....still....I wonder.....
If SDM isn't any faster than screw drive for most users, what, really, is the point?
