Fixed it 8-))))))

The black plastic bar had broken away from the locking collar so it couldn't be turned to the point where it raised the metal locking pin.

I turned the plastic bar with my finger so it lifted the metal pin. It sits there quite well so all I had to do was to stop the plastic bar from moving.

I didn't want to glue it because it couldn't be reversed so I used some blu tack (soft putty) like substance to wedge it into place.

Plugged the wires back, screwed it all together, popped the batteries in and it all worked perfectly 8-))

I was careful to check that the flash was stable on the camera without the locking pin. It was fine.

A big thanks to those who were generous with their assistance.
