Just as every Pentax lens has shake reduction, pretty much every Pentax lens will now be able to perform shift perspective correction with the new K-7.

Pentax says 2mm horizontal and vertical shift. For reference, the newest Canon TS lenses shift about +/- 12mm for the new 24mm TS-E (or about 33% horizontal and 50% vertical, on full frame sensor).

So in comparison 2mm of shift doesn't sound like a lot, but an APS-C sensor is only 23.6x15.7mm, so 2mm is about 8.5% horizontal shift and 12.7% vertical shift.

Pretend you are a landscape photographer, and would have to tilt your camera up slightly to get the horizon to be in the bottom 3rd of the image instead of being at the midpoint in the image. Instead of tilting the camera up, you shift the sensor up 2mm and this would put the horizon near the bottom 3rd line and you wouldn't have perspective distortion from tilting the camera upwards. Since the sensor is roughly 16mm tall in landscape mode, the mid-point is at 8mm and the bottom 3rd line at 5.33mm. A 2mm shift would take you to 6mm, which is really close.

Again, this amount is small, but as John C said in his questions thread that it is extremely helpful for perfecting your composition, especially in Macro shots.

What it won't do is allow for extreme perspective correction on a tall building or something (unless you area long ways away).

So, when can we get a sensor that shifts 5mm or so, never mind vignetting ;)
