I have seen wonderful pictures made by this camera.
I am tired of taking my bulky SLR on holiday, and I have to admit, although I took outstanding pictures with it, I failed a lot, because my technical skills are limitated, and I can't give it as much time as I want!
So the FZ 18 with his big zoom, nice colours and better Dofn thanks again to this zoom, and could be an alternative to make better pictures then just a pocket-camera!
Now I wonder if it was not possible to use a bit larger sensor. Fuji is making grat one's for a year now, how come that Panasonic is not doing any effort in this compartement?
Because what I have seen from this camera is for the rest outstanding. It is good for portraits, landscapes, heck, some pictures I saw here I would have bet it was taken with an Slr!
But this works at 100 iso. From what I have seen, there is already a bit noise at 200! Now that is a pitty, you can't use 100 iso all the time!
So my dilema is, getting the nikon still a bit better, or take the risk of having a bit noisy pictures, with still less Dof then the Nikon, but be happy not to carry that heavy Nikon, when I don't feel like it.... -- see my pictures at http://www.pbase.com/indieke
