Hi All,
I have an idea.
Before I go off and try to build the next “electronic wonder of the world”, I am seeking feedback in a number of areas:
What I am trying to do, is use this thread to gather all the experience from TZ3 owners and compile a relatively simple table to help other TZ3 owners guess the approximate shutter speed, ISO & F stop the camera is likely to choose for a given set of conditions.
One of the biggest downsides to automatic cameras is the fact that you cannot select the settings you want. (No manual settings.) But, if we can pool our collective knowledge, we can have an educated guess as to what setting the camera is expected to use for a given set of external conditions and the particular setting you have set the camera on.
Based on the saying that “Necessity is the mother of invention” and “If you can not enter the house from the front, then maybe there is a back door you can use”. What I am trying to say is that we TZ3 owners, by the simple process of taking photos have compiled little databases of knowledge that could be used jointly for the benefit of all TZ3 owners.
What I am attempting is to draw from your collective experience to compile a table of shutter speed, ISO & F stop ranges for each of the automatic settings as well as the scene modes.
I believe this will be an invaluable tool for all TZ3 owners. By referring to this table, the user can select a group of settings that is likely to produce the result they are after.
Before asking all TZ3 owners to contribute to this table, I want to have an agreed table format and content. I do not put myself up as a photography expert, but I have a lot of experience in databases and Excel.
So, initially, I am seeking feedback on:
1. What do other TZ3 owners think of the idea? 2. What fields are important to capture? 3. What can be assumed to simplify the table? 4. Would a set of tables for each main group be better than one large, complex table?
I await your replies
Best wishes,
David
