that tripod thing is the 'gorillapod'.

I don't have the filter 'mounted' to the lx1 yet, and I'm not sure what I'll use. haven't quite gotton that far yet ;) I think I want the filter and step-ring to be able to just slide off easily if the camera decides to go into sleep mode (lens retract). what I'm thinking is a string (like a lens keeper) that will hold between the filter and the step ring and then go to the tripod screw area (or like that). and if the lens retracts, the filter will fall but not fall to the GROUND, that's what I want to avoid.

the step ring is the only one of its size that BH has, so its easy to locate on their site. the filter was from 2filter.com and its the 37mm hoy37dcpl ($26). step ring was about $7, I think.
