I'm pretty much settled in on using Spot AutoFocus mode all the time since, to date, I've never gotten a well-focused shot to my satisfaction using the 9 or 3 point mode. However, in back of my mind, I think there must be ideal times for using the 3 area and 9 area modes.

Can you please offer the type of photo taking moments when you would use either mode? For example, do you use the 9 point mode to photograph birds in flight and, if so, why and what factors into your decision to use this mode? Other examples as to why one mode works better than another in a particular situation would be much appreciated.

thanks
