Can someone please explain the differences between the one, three and nine-point auto focus system on Panasonic cameras such as the FZ3 and FZ20. The FZ3 manual doesn't really explain how they work, why and when one use of the autofocus option may be better than another, etc.

I've been playing with all three options but seem to have more control of focus when I use the one focus point. When using the 3 & 9 point modes, the camera selects the focus points, not me.

I'd appreciate any insights about these focusing options/settings.

thanks,
