Hello,
I my previous post I asked for tips about drying up a 5D (Mk I) to get autofocus back. The incident made me start to think about possibly upgrading my camera, and now that 1D Mk IV is (soon) out, I thought that this model could serve me better.
I really like my old 5D, and it still works well for most situations. However, the biggest pain points are:
- autofocus is not always up to the task at hand, and could be better - weather sealing currently limits my shooting, and currently I always need to worry about 5D's ability to cope (and last time it didn't).
Now, the questions. If you have experience of both 5D and a recent 1D model, how much better would you say the autofocus is? How about fast moving subjects (runners, birds and [European] football)?
Secondly, weather sealing. The 1D marketing materials say that you can shoot in rain and do not have to worry about it. Is this true? Can I keep shooting even in heavy rain and let the camera get wet?
The lenses I use most are 17-40L and 70-200L. I can have a simple UV filter at the front, which I believe is required for weather sealing.
Thanks for your insight!
