Ok, many of you are aware that she is a pretty close friend of my wife's family. With all of the hoopla regarding the recent high-profile portrait, I was hesitant to ask her about it.
Truthfully, I have only met her a handful of times (mostly at large family / friends gatherings). I occasionally email her about photography-related questions and she is pretty good at getting back to me (although it usually takes more than 2 weeks).
I emailed her day before last and sent her the links to the thread here and over at FM.com regarding the controversial feedback on the photo. To my surprise, she responded this morning.
Without cutting and pasting, the general gist was that she was, in fact, rushed for time by the SS. She was required to use WH equipment / lighting, and even had little to do with posing.
She knows that the focusing was not perfect and that there are fingers cut off, but it was fine given the nature of the photo (meant to be a very casual, down-to-earth image).
So, sorry...nothing mind-boggling to report, mostly as I expected, but good to know that she was gracious enough to respond.
