It seems the mighty Tiger it’s being hurt deep in its pride.

I translated the most relevant info.
According to DSLR Magazine dot com in a brief conversation with Canon technicians the following information rised:
1.- One of the reasons for 5D successor delay was the presentation of Nikon’s 2 high performance cameras: The 3D and especially the 700D.
2.- Canon decided to incorporate much more advance features for the “heir”.
3.- Canon is “rehearsing” with the 50D cmos sensor, some features that will be too in the new 5D sensor.
4.- This site claims they being confirmed a sensor with 21mp for the 5D2 (not necessarily its name)
5.- Digic IV. This new sensor according to the talk, it’s way more advance than Digic III. Its algorithms offer much better noise reduction and they believe that noise reduction technology by algorithms may be approaching its ceiling.
6.- More advance sensor technology with Canon’s new wave of sensors is distinctly obtained by reducing even more the space between pixels. This new pixels need less charge inducing less heat and of course, less noise.
7.- New microlenses covering the whole area for optimal light capture. This technology according to the info, has met “the state of the art”. It can’t get any better.
8.- The low pass filter is new formulation too. These other advances help Canon to mount a less agressive low pass filter and even getting better moiré control.
9.- Digic 5 cameras may be produced without a low pass filter. Canon is working on that.
10.- Future digic processors will be able to adjust locally both highlights and shadows.
11.- Canon is working on future Digic processor working at 16bit. Possibly Digic5.
11.- After this conversation this site speculates about a 1Ds Mark4 with 50 megapixels.
Seems credible to me Eduardo
