Perhaps its just me, but those examples at 200 ISO are a poor reflection of shadow noise from the flagship Canon. The shot of the goat (in the review) illustrates this perfectly. There is definate red bloching in some of these images. The NR simply becomes too much in the shadows at 400, especially judging by some of the other examples.

See image "img_9897_acr.jpg" in the examples. Look at the hair of the child. Loads of noise and artifacts.

I do wish Canon would drop the MP race and start concentrating on image quality. It will be a long time before they can compete on quality with the MF digital with a 35mm sensor and may be better to stick to what they do best; rapid AF, great bodies and work on the DR/ ISO thing. I just hope the 5D replacement will really strike the necessary balance in between the 1Dsmk2/smk3 resolution and 5D/ 1Dmk3 image quality.

Not much of an upgrade from the 1Dsmk2, which is probably why their prices fell sharply once it was released.

Just my 2 cents.

Christian
