With Nikon's latest releases, there's no point being "nice" about "demands" for the next-gen 5D simply because other options don't exist.
1) The noise performance must *at least match* the D3 2) Cross-type AF sensors on *all* AF points 3) More AF points, more spread out, custom AF selection order 4) TAv mode (discussed below -- like auto ISO) 5) Shutter lag reduced *at least* 50% 6) *No* viewfinder dust.
I would also *like* a functional anti-dust sensor shake, and a "quite mode" shutter. I know other people want more FPS and weather sealing. I'm sure those features will come, but they are not high priority for me. But, like I said, I'm sure they'll come.
What about MP? Don't care as long as it isn't lower than 12.8 MP. If they can get 16 MP in with matching noise performance, God Bless them. : )
OK, about TAv mode. Here's what it does:
You specify both the f-ratio and the shutter speed -- the camera chooses the ISO. You also select the floor and ceiling ISOs, and the priority safety shift when they are reached (f-ratio or shutter speed).
If the 5DII can *at least* do all that, then I'm a happy camper. If not, I'll not be a happy camper. However, as Nikon does not have a 50 / 1.2L, and I cannot afford the D3, a switch is out of the question.
Now the price: $3300, just like the original 5D. Sound reasonable? It think it's not only reasonable, but it should be *expected*.
