Canon and Nikon should join forces and make a smaller range of decent cameras, both SLR and P&S that actually work properly without compromise instead of providing an endless stream of competing 'me too 'products that are all inadequate in some respect or another. It appears both companies are holding back and not designing the best that current technolgy could easily provide. Why in the digital age do smaller bodies have to be crippled with either inferior sensors, focusing ,metering ,speed and or FOV crops etc. Everythig that is required is on the market, but not in the one camera! If the manufaturers want to give us an endless choice why not spend the R and D budget on a choice of form factors with equally capable specs, and not on providing lots of flavours of the same old formulaic rubbish. If it means starting from scratch with new mounts, new lens designs and totally radical thinking so be it,but the current state of affairs is not helping move photography into the 21st century and is wasting valuable resources.
