The 300, 0.3, 0 variables are oke for removing small detail softness as caused by the AA filter. But there are many more uses for usm... In short you can use usm for - small detail retrievement - better contrast - defogging
and to add some numbers with this - small detail retrievement 400 - 0,3 - 0 till 200 - 0,5 - 0 - better contrast 100 - 1 - 0 till 30 - 8 - 0 - defogging 20 - 30 - 0 till 10 - 50 - 0
I often use a combination of these settings on a picture, a normal routine could be... usm 10 - 30 - 0 usm 30 - 6 - 0 usm 150 - 0,5 - 0
But there are NO correct numbers, it totally depends on - in camera processing - type of raw conversion - noise - contrast - pixelsize - desired effect - subject - subjectsize - etc
