Saturday late afternoon I was hopping from rock to rock crossing a slow moving creek which was about 3 feet deep up in the Eastern Sierra Nevada's just west of Bishop, California.

As I hopped onto a rock in the middle of the creek, I lost traction on this slimmy slippery moss-coated rock and you guessed it, the 1DM2 slung around my shoulders came down along with me, into the creek, FULLY SUBMERGED for about 15-20 seconds before I yanked it up out of the water.

I had the Canon 24-70mm L F2.8 attached to it at the time.

A whole string of explictives shot out of my mouth and I don't mean words like "nuts", "darn", "shoot", or "jimminy cricket"!

After drying the camera and lens, to my amazement it worked, and it worked 300 images later through late Sunday evening.

I realize the camera is weather proofed but never thought it could take being fully submerged. What I'm must impressed with is the lens...I cannot believe no water made it inside the barrel through that gap where the lens moves in and out.

As of lunchtime today everything still works...I had to buff out a few minor marks on the body however but it seems the 1DM2 took the water just fine.

I thought about taking the camera in to Canon anyways but it seems that I should just not worry unless symptoms come to light.

Should I take it in? Wait a few days?
