Hi everyone,
I just bought my first DSLR. I'm pretty excited about it! Ordered a slightly used/refurbished Canon Rebel XT for a great price. I've read a number of reviews about it.. mainly it sounds like it will be a good choice for a beginner, and being a girl with small hands, the complaints about the size of the camera shouldn't be too much of a problem for me. I plan to use it for taking pictures on my travels around Southeast Asia, so the lightweight build will be great.
The biggest complaint about this camera I've read is regarding the lens that comes with the kit. I was wondering if anyone could provide a little insight for me.. Is the lens really that bad for a beginner? Will it be difficult for me to use and take good pictures?
If buying a new lens would be my best bet.. does anyone have any suggestions as to what lens I should be looking at? Like I said, I'll be traveling a lot.. probably taking a lot of landscape pics and stuff. I'd also like to be able to use it at night.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
