Hi,
just looking to see if anyone has experienced this problem or not. My 450D will not auto focus. Even if I'm in a well-lit room, pressing the shutter button doesn't make the lens do anything; I don't get any of the red dots flickering in the viewfinder, the motor doesn't turn, nothing. If I switch the lens to manual focus, after a while (a few seconds sometimes, sometimes much longer, sometimes not at all) the camera recognises that it's in manual focus and will then shoot, but I get nothing at all in auto-focus mode.
This is the same on both the kit 18-55mm lens and a Sigma 70-300mm. I assume that it's the body that has the problem. I've tried clearing settings from the menu, but that doesn't seem to help at all. Have other people had this occur? (most of the auto-focus issues I've seen seem to be more to do with it not functioning well in low light, rather than not working at all). Could it be firmware related? (I'm on version 1.1.0 at the moment) Is there anything else I should be testing for?
Thanks
James
