To celebrate Nikon's F-mount 50th anniversary, I wish they will have 50% discount on their MSRP.
Then we will be really celebrating!! :-D
While having a drink with Mr Chow last night, he told me these about Nikon 2009:
New lenses:
AF-S 300 f/4 G VR ED N - priced around US$1700
AF-S 400 f/5.6 G VR ED N - priced around US$1800
AF-S 80-400 f/4-5.6 G VR ED N - priced around US$2500
AF-S 70-210 f/2.8 G VR ED N - Even priced at US$2200, this will be another 6 mth waiting list lens. Bulkier than the current 70-200VR, same weight thou.
AF-S 28-200 f/3.5-5.6 G VR ED N - No detail...
AF-S 17-40 f/2.8 G ED N - A surprise. Replacing 17-35 f/2.8. Filter friendly.
AF-S 24 f/1.4 G ED N - No VR. Period. US$1700
AF-S 35 f/1.4 G ED N - No VR. US$1200
AF-S 50 f/1.0 G VR ED N - The biggest surprise!! It's 50th anniversary! It has "50", "1", and all the latest technology in one lens. We need a superstar, and we have this. (This maybe a "back-to-basic 50mm prime" kit lens for the new high MP FF superstar.) Pricy, but for sure not US$5000. ;-) 5000 sets of limit edition will have matched serial numbers with the FF superstar, with the 50th anniversary gold engraving/tag.
AF-S 85 f/1.4 G ED N - No VR. US$1300
AF-S 200 f/4 G VR ED N Micro - No detail.
Manual focus 500mm f/8 VR Mirror lens - Mm... another surprise...!!!
TC-V - TC with 1.4x - 2x zoom. ED lens and nano coating maybe. Autofocus with AF-S lens only.
Maybe 2 more Pro-level DX lenses.
Also, these will still be around:
Screw AF lenses:
20 f/2.8, 24 f/2.8, 28 f/2.8, 35 f/2, 50 f/1.4 and f/1.8, 85 f/1.8, 180 f/2.8, 18-35 f/3.5-4.5, 24-85 f/2.8-4, 80-200 f/2.8 D ED
AF-S lenses:
24-120 f/3.5-5.6 VR, 200 f/2 VR, 300 f/2.8 VR , 400 f/2.8 VR, ...
MSRP will drop after sometimes...
(Note: In HK(China), Mr Chow is the sleeping God. ;-)
