Granted that perhaps for you coming from MF lens dont see any problems with a non HSM motor, but for alot of people who shots sports or other subjects that require fast action, slow focusing just cost you shots. if all the competition has lens that can focus and yours cant, it just makes things all that much harder for you and its a competitive business as is also, after trying the bog slow 170-500 which was just absurbly slow taking a few seconds to AF, most people have a bad taste in their mouths for anything thats non HSM or USM -- http://www.pbase.com/bigbad
