Many years ago, before the days of AF SLRs, I sold some MF lenses through a consignment store. They advised me that I wouldn't get a good price for one because the focusing ring could be turned past infinity. But then along came AF SLRs and it became normal for the range of focus to go past infinity.

I recently purchased the Zeiss ZE 21mm/2.8 MF lens. When using live view at maximum magnification, I've noticed that the focusing ring stops exactly at infinity, just like in the old days. But with other lenses, I've come to find it reassuring to be able to turn it a bit past infinity and back just to be absolutely sure of the focus.

I realize that this is a fairly petty criticism of the Zeiss lens, especially since it produces stunningly sharp images. I was just wondering how others felt.
