Greetings!

I have the Rebel XT currently mated with the Sigma 17-70. I like the combo a lot, but have been wishing for a longer focal length for some time.

The Canon 70-200 f4 L (non IS) is reasonably priced, and I'm wondering if it would be a good lens for my camera?

I had been looking at the Sigma 70-200 2.8, but it costs more and doesn't seem to be as highly regarded as the canon.

Is there another lens I should be considering?

I've read tons of posts here regarding the canon 70-200 lenses, and that they are highly regarded, I just want to make sure that this is a good combo. Especially since my skills are lacking.

thanks for any input.
