I can't show you a side by side comparison, but I have a whole booklet of FTM test from CI of the whole Canon lens collection. here is a resume :
Distorsion is the same in both primes (very low), vignetting is the same on both lens at the same aperture (low at F2,8 and undedectable at F4). The F1,4 is sharper from F2 to F4 in the corners (similary the same in the center) and there is almost no difference at F5,6 and F8 (both are excellent). -- I love the crop factor
