Hi All,

Just a photography related experience that really made me wonder if I'm loosing it and that I wanted to share with you.

I have a number of lenses that I rarely use, and that I therefore wanted to sell. One of these is a Tamron AdaptAll SP 90mm. macro, generally considered to be one of the best classic MF macro lenses of all times. I put in an add on a Dutch website an received some bids, one of which resulted in a bidder stating that he definely wanted to buy it and would call for an appointment. Now, in my add the fact that this is an MF, all mechanical no electronics AdaptAll lens including Pentax K.M. mount was made very clear, that's something to remember.

Yesterday, the guy called and we got talking. He wanted the Tamron for his Pentax K-X and wanted to make sure it would fit. Of course it fits, it comes with a K.M. mount which will physically fit any Pentax K-mount camera, old or new, film or digital. But you will have to set the aperture manually on a K-X. That surprised him, he had no idea there was something like an aperture ring and how that would work. He was equally surprised to learn that an AdaptAll lens has no autofocus and in general no electronics what so ever. That made him wonder if this Tamron was actually the right lens for what he intended to use it for: using the video-option on his D-SLR to shoot macro-films of insects... :(

Yes, it's true: the sale of this superb lens bounced because with it's all manual functionality it's not suited for shooting videos on a D-SLR. The world is going mad, I tell you!
