In the DP-1 review, for the B&W resolution chart:

Measured DP-1 Horizontal/Vertical LPH as 1525 and 1500, respectively.

However in Mike Chaney's SD-14 resolution examination of the SD-14:

http://www.ddisoftware.com/sd14-5d/

The SD-14 was measured at 1700 LPH on a B&W chart!

As a sanity check, DP-Review ratings for the Canon 5D were 2300/2000 and Mike's were 2100 - so if anything Mike was lowballing things a little on his test.

The thing that makes this even weirder, is that I would say generally he results I get from the DP-1 are a bit sharper than the SD-14. And Mike was shooting an 18-50mm at f/5.6, not the 50mm or anything like that.

The final detail that really makes you go "huh" is the measurements from the original SD-10 test:

1550 for both horizontal and vertical LPH!!!

Does anyone seriously think the DP-1 offers no more detail than the SD-10? Or in fact, slightly less?

I personally didn't have many issues with the review itself (disagree with the conclusion), but looking this over more carefully really makes me wonder what happened in the review for this particular measurement. Lin mentioned they shot JPG for the resolution charts but it would surprise me if that alone could cause that degree of difference.

Something seems wrong here, what is it?
