I never do this kinda thing, honest, but the two cameras were sitting there, on my desk, and I couldn't help myself, I peeped. Anyhoo, see for yourself. I took a RAW picture with the cameras on a tripod, using a 5D with 24-105 set to 28mm and a DP1, both set to IS0 200. This is the DP1 version of the entire shot http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg192/boyo_boy/DP5DDP1.jpg this is a crop from the center of the DP1 pic, with a teeny bit of USM sharpening. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg192/boyo_boy/DP1Testcrop.jpg this is a crop from the center of the 5D pic, enlarged to size of DP1 pic, with a whiff of USM. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg192/boyo_boy/5DTestcrop.jpg I think the DP1 IQ is impressive. I'd like to hear what others think, just don't say how it's comparing apples and oranges, I don't care about that, this is for fun, not for scientific analysis. To my eye it appears that if the DP1 shot were sharpened a tad more it would equal the 5D shot, but I've tried several sharpening approaches and no luck. Suggestions? Nevertheless, I'm very pleased with the DP1, way cool. -- JohnK Take a picture, it'll last longer.
