Hi all,

I happen to live near the Cameta camera shop (on Long Island in NY) that is having the firesale as listed on Amazon....

I called them on Monday and had them hold the last one they had in the store for me. However, they DO have a "few" more in their warehouse. But the person was clear that there are not many left.

Went down today to pick it up..... $649.95 plus $20 for an extra battery. I had to pay tax since I live in NY, so that was another $50+, but still a great deal. Got an extra no-name battery because they are more than likely made in the same place. Camera companies don't make batteries and you usually pay extra for having their name on the batteries.

Anyway, I asked why the firesale? They told me that they are no longer going to keep Sigma cameras in stock due to the lack of demand, so they are selling below cost just to clear inventory. Since the SD14 has come out, they have hardly sold any. The inventory they have is still from the original shipment when the camera was first released.

They are also no longer carring any glass with sigma mounts. However, you can still order a lense.

I would imagine that most other shops are having the same problem selling these cameras. Hate to say it, but I bet that Sigma exits the camera business within a year or so. The guy at the shop told me that there is so little interest in this camera, even at this price...so the writing is on the wall.....but heck, go get one, the price is certainly right.

In another thread, someone asked what is included. Here are the contents:

- camera body
- body cap
- battery
- battery charger
- strap
- Sigma pro software
- the usual wires; usb and video cables
- instruction manual

DC power supply is NOT included

BTW - anyone interested in a SD10 with two kit lenses and only somewhere around 950 total pics taken?
