Hello everyone.

I have been assisting a wedding photographer as a second shooter for about a year now.

One of the pet peeves that my boss has is dark(black) backgrounds in the shots of the cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. The setup we use are lumidynes with diffusing globes on them for a fill light and on camera flash (Nikon SB-800) for the main light.

Now I can get the images to look great when the ceiling is not ridiculously tall, but recently we have covered a couple of wedding receptions in very large rooms with very tall ceilings. I have found that my fill light is getting swallowed up by the large room and I am getting dark backgrounds.

Does anyone have any tips or recommendations for shooting in a very large room and getting a good fill? Maybe a website that has some lighting techniques for very high ceilings?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
