I tried this awhile back and got some interesting results, but decided to update my efforts with a couple of changes:
-- I purchased both Nikon and OM 4/3 adapters, so I have some different lenses to try readings with.
-- Whilst rummaging around in my basement I “rediscovered” a Visual Plus 5x7 portable lightbox to use as a light source.
So the setup now is the lightbox secured vertically on a table and Oly E-1 or E-500 tripod mounted with the front of the lens about ˝ inch from the illuminated surface -- focused at infinity.
Readings were done with a Sekonic L558R light meter, through the one-degree spot. ISO was set at 800 and the measuring mode was EV. I used the viewfinder adapters for my Polish-built 45-degree viewfinder, which helps to consistently position the lens of the meter. I measured the area between the viewfinder circle and the AF cross -- the upper left quadrant.
Lenses were: -- Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 MF -- OM/Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 MF (5,000,000 series) -- Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 AF -- Nikkor 80-200 f/4 MF
The results are at:
