The MetroPark near my home has been forced to clear-cut a 50' swath of forest straight through a large chunk of the park. It seems that there was a buried pipeline lying anonymously below the parkland. The clear-cut was done to make surveillance of the pipeline easier. It's a damn shame that this is where we're going as a society - slashing through maturing forestland to make it easier to keep a fearful eye on a buried pipeline that no one even knew about before the clear-cutting.

Here are some pics that relate my thoughts on this sad turn of events.

It wasn't an overly spectacular location but it gave my family and thousands of park visitors many pleasant hours of escape from life's hurly-burly...
