It quite literally went bats. To test the high-ISO capabilities of the D700 I bought a week ago I took it to the zoo and tried to take some pics in the bat cave. There's just one (very dim) red light bulb in there, giving off the absolute minimum of light needed to see the bats. Here's the result of a D700 at ISO 25.600, 1/10s with a 14-24mm @ 24mm f/2.8:

Obviously I had to resize the pic and apply a lot of NR, but still. I can assure you that I couldn't see the bat nearly this well. This is approximately what it looked like to the naked eye, maybe even a little bit darker:

I think we can safely say that this kind of sensitivity is simply insane. I was shooting under lighting conditions where most sane persons wouldn't have bothered to try. Somehow, thanks to the D700, I managed to pull a usable pic out of it. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship between me and my D700. ;)
