I never really bothered about using my film nikon mount (sigma and tamron) or nikkor branded Full frame FILM lenses on my D90 and D200--since I have the 18-70 Nikon and the 18-200 VR nikon on these DX bodies..
now my D200 (with grip and all accessories etc) is being bought buy a friend for a good price..
I was thinking of upgrading to a D300/D300s-- but then I thought of my FILM lenses-- see, I call them film lenses as opposed to Digital FX lenses...because back in the day-- they said film lenses were not optimized for Digital sensors... is this true at all?
so my question is..if I upgrade or replace my D200 to a FULL FRAME/FX D700-- if I use my older AF full frame lenses-- will there be degradation of quality of the IMAGE because the lenses I will use were for Film? since they don't have the necessary coatings? to compensate for the sensors of the DSLRs? OR is this all BS/marketing on behalf of the Lens manufacturers?
..also let's not argue/discuss about the D700 IQ is better than D300 etc.. if we can stick to the main question.. that will be good.. since we all know the advantages and disadvantages of both formats.. thanks all..
P.S. I am considering the D700 only because I have a Full frame fish eye, 18-35 lens that when I use on DX --obviously not as wide anymore-- and buying an equivalent of these on DX will be expensive as well.. and since I am losing a body (D200) --I have to replace it anyway- (I do weddings) ..
