Hi recently bought a d700, ended up getting the 50mm 1.8 and the 85.. 1.8 with it as well.

Those lenses do just fine with a good deal of the photos I have been taking, but don't cover a particular style of portraits that I like to take. Essentially I like to zoom in on section parts of the face and cut out other features. So, for example, I might want to frame my photo such that you can only see part of the nose and eyes, or part of the lips and neck, etc etc. Problem is that the two above lenses wont let me get focus at the distance that would be required to frame the picture as I want it as per above.

So wondering what sort of lense you guys would recommend for doing this. Would it be the 105mm (and if so, which one, i am thinking probably the macro) or maybe the 60mm macro.

Or should I just save some money and go for the 70-200?

advice would be appreciated.
