Pretty much what you expect them to say about these things...
When discussing the overlap in the market between the 1Ds series and the D3, a brief mention is made of the 5D, and that Nikon would be studying customer needs in regard to that kind of product.
Also touches on the D_x and D_H variant requirements (and if I am reading the answer correctly, the D3 is the solution to both requirements.)
