You have a D3 and D300 body, as well as a 300/2.8 AFS, TC14, TC17 and TC20. Which body will you use to shoot the next lunar eclipse, and why?

Just assume there is a two stop difference in high ISO performance between the two bodies so we are all looking at the same picture.

Rather than mindless specualtion about relative and absolute performance of the sensors and new features, I though this would make for an interesting and maybe educational thread.

Please specify your precise reasoning.

I have my own answer in mind, but I will save it for later.
