Hi

I currently own a 400D and am considering an upgrade down the x0D path. I have been offered a second hand 40D at a very good price, but I am thinking of going straight to the 50D. There has been a lot of criticism of the 50D in these forums and I wanted to get one more set of opinions. Also, is the 40D enough of an improvement over the 400d to justify the outlay??

The reasons for the upgrade are:
1. I enjoy sports photography and want to get better AF performance (speed and accuracy)
2. I do take a lot of indoor family pics and don't always want to use the flash - hence high ISO performance would be good (over the 400d - crap above 800)
3. Always want better IQ

If I do go down the 40D path, then I will look at buying a 60D maybe 6 months after it's released. I wouldn't do this with the 50D.
