Just received an email from my dealer and she states their 40D's will arrive on Thursday and she will call me to confirm and arrange shipment for my Body only order.

The dealer is Berger Brothers Camera and their phone # is 800-262-4160 and ask for Lisa. I purchased my 20D there in 2004 and their service and support is great. I don't know how many or how long their pre-order list is but believe me it is worth a call.
