ISO 125 should be the next lowest in noise after 100, right? No.

ISO 125 gives blacks as noisy as ISO 640 on the 30D (both with the same EC):

ISO 160 is the best, and 1000 the worst (again, with constant EC).

Of course, in the highlight and midtone areas, noise is mainly photon shot noise, which is totally unrelated to ISO settings, and is dependent on the actual exposure on the sensor.
