I'm on a quest to develop an artistic photographic eye. I have a problem I just can't seem to get past. I can't "see" the artistic framing in the field. I am quite happy with my artistic progress back at my computer where I often do what I consider an excellent job of cropping to gain the emotional effect I'm after. The problem is that I often need to crop so aggressively I end up lowering the resolution below what I need for a print.

It seems no matter how many years I shoot, I can't progress in "seeing" the final image until I'm sitting at my computer.

Am I alone with this frustrating problem? Any suggestions on how to get past being "stuck" in making progress?
