I think the last serious offering for this type of camera was the Fuji s200 EXR which wasn't all that long ago I guess but these were at one time coming out fast and furious. I'd still buy one if there were something that would compete with the IQ of the current DSLRs. I very much miss the silent operation and the great wide angle performance of my Sony R-1 but the high ISO IQ and the lack of IS is too much to sacrifice for a quiet camera.
