I’ll save everybody some time and get right down to it. I am disabled, and, among other things, that means I am in a wheelchair and have limited manual dexterity. The significance of that will be apparent in a moment.
I have a PowerShot A590 IS. It’s a nice camera, but I can't use it. That’s partly because its USB port doesn't work. It also doesn't fit securely on a standard camera mount. I have a common tripod that has been modified to mount on my wheelchair. That makes the wheelchair a big "quad-pod." I can use the handles and knobs on the tripod to aim the camera, but using the controls on the camera without accidentally moving it is a problem. This is especially true for the zoom control and shutter trigger. In fact, my wheelchair has more equipment on it than many police cars, because I have to have a laptop for speech and other tasks. What I need for photography is a camera with the features of the A590 that can be controlled from the computer.
Please note that I am only a casual photographer. I shoot photos of events I attend, just like the average person. That pretty much defines my set of desired features and price range. Oh, and it needs to securely screw to a common mount shoe. Your comments, please.
