Although it is dated, I am very happy with my Canon Powershot S2 IS. It has many features I like, including extended zoom, f-stop bracketing, and above all it allows me to set "flash off" as the default. In fact, unless I lift the flash it won't flash - this is very good insurance against flashing in inappropriate circumstances.

But there are times when I would like to slip a smaller camera in my pocket. This summer there have been a number of very small cameras with 8x or higher optical zoom. But so far none I have found have the ability to force flash off and set flash off as the default. I can do without some of the features of my larger camera but flash-off as default and 8x or better zoom are musts.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Len
