The strength of the DP1 is the great picture it takes.

Mundane issues such as speed, LCD quality, are irrelevant.

Even the big manufacturers have critics. The new Canon 890 P&S is blowing out pictures. The new Nikon S51 has no sharpness.

dpreview's weakness is that it values balance too much. Almost review by committee. Some cameras are meant to be balanced. Some are not.

In this case, for example, the review format should have been different in order to explore the strengths of the camera, which are unique.

And DSLRs are in another size category completely.

Slow operation does not matter. For a camera that is not supposed to be a speed demon, who cares if you shoot 1 picture, or 60 a second?

To get the IQ of the DP1 you need a $ 2500 DSLR with a prime. The DP1 is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. It is DSLR quality on a belt or a jacket pocket.

I am disappointed at dpreview's review. 10 years from now if you are looking at a red flower field the DP1 will still hold its own.
