I just read the review of the Oly E-330. It's a very interesting camera but unfortunately some of its features appear to be poorly implemented.

I found Phil's conclusion about the manufacturer more interesting than the actual camera though and it got me to thinking that this was a good thing.

Basically, the camera squeaked by with recommended rating but the company was slammed in a manner of speaking for not doing as much as they should have to bring the camera up to it's full potential.

From earlier posts I have gathered that the manufacturers are very keen on getting their equipment reviewed here at DPR and so it seems that Mr. Askey's views are gaining more and more weight in the industry. And now that that we're in a sort of lull in the generational graph of camera development, I think it's a great (and important) time for all the major reviewers to step up and prominantly make their opinions known about what we the people expect from the cam companies for the near future.

Three cheers to Phil for going beyond merely reviewing the equipment and challenging the makers to build 'em better instead of giving in to the current trend of bowing to the bean counters, marketing execs and production department heads.
