my photo collection is growing really fast and it needs to be more clearly organized.

I've therefore a few questions for you:

1) How do you classified your photos ? By Year, Event, Subject etc...

2) How do you deal with same subjects in different sub-categories ? e.g. a horse in a beautifull landscape and a horse in a paddock ? Do you deal with this later in Lightroom using metadata ?

3) Where do you save them on your Macintosh HD ? In your Picture folder or you have a dedicaded partition ?

I will be using Lighroom. I plan to create a folder with only two categories : Year and Event. When importing my photos in Lightroom I will then classified photos using keywords etc.. Am I right to do so ?

I will manage my photo collection for professional use..
